iPhone 16: The Top 15 Changes Coming

Larger Displays

Latest Post 5 Best Free Dating Apps of 2024

The upcoming iPhone 16 lineup is set to feature larger displays. The iPhone 16 Pro will increase from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max will increase from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches. The standard models will remain the same size. The best part is that the Pro models won’t get much larger overall. The Pro Max will be taller by 3.1 mm and wider by 0.9 mm, while the 16 Pro will be taller by 3 mm and wider by 0.85 mm. Additionally, the bezels on all four models will be thinner, thanks to Apple’s use of border reduction structure (BRS). This means that all four models will have equally thin bezels, not just the Pro models.

New Main Camera Sensor

The iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature a brand new main camera sensor. This sensor will be 1 over 1.14 inches in size, which is 12% larger than the current sensor’s size of 1 over 1.28 inches. This upgrade is expected to improve low-light performance, background blur, and noise reduction. While the sensor may not make a huge difference, it is exciting to see a new main sensor since the iPhone 14 Pro.

Upgraded Ultra Wide Camera

The Pro models of the iPhone 16 are rumored to come with a new 48-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. This sensor will likely support pixel binning and ProRAW, allowing users to capture higher quality photos. This upgrade is especially useful for those who edit their photos after taking them. The extra resolution and ProRAW support make a big difference when it comes to editing.

Improved Telephoto Module

The iPhone 16 Pro will receive an upgrade to its telephoto module. It is reported that it will now have the same 5x periscope module as the iPhone 15 Pro Max introduced last year. While the upgrade in zoom quality between the 5x and 15 Pro 3x is not significant, it is a big improvement for those who are coming from an older iPhone model with only a 2x module.

Larger Batteries

Apple will be using a stacked battery design with larger capacities for the iPhone 16. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to have a capacity of 4676mAh, up from 4222mAh, while the 16 Pro will have a capacity of 3355mAh, up from 3274mAh. This means longer battery life for users. Additionally, there are rumors of faster charging, with 40 Watts wired charging and 20 Watts MagSafe charging, up from the current 20 watts and 15 watts, respectively. This is a much-needed improvement, as the iPhone is currently one of the slowest charging phones on the market.

New A18 Chip

The iPhone 16 series will be powered by the A18 chip. Unlike the previous generation, where the Pro Models had the A7 Pro chip and the standard models had the A16 chip, both the Pro and standard models will have the A18 chip. The Pro models may have a Pro variant of the A18 chip with additional features. Unfortunately, specific core counts and details are not available due to recent controversies surrounding a banned tech leaker.

Improved Thermal System

Apple is rumored to be working on a new thermal system to reduce overheating in the iPhone 16. Overheating has been an issue with previous iPhone models, especially the 15 Pro at launch. While Apple may not be implementing a vapor cooling chamber, they are exploring a graphene thermal system. The effectiveness of this system is yet to be determined, but Apple holds patents related to this technology.

Enhanced AI

One of the key selling features of the iPhone 16 series is its enhanced AI capabilities. Apple is working on developing AI tools and considering a partnership with Google to improve Siri and add AI features to their first-party apps. The upgraded neural engine with more cores will play a significant role in improving the AI experience on the iPhone 16.

Action Button and Capture Button

The action button, previously a Pro exclusive feature, will be available on all iPhone 16 models. It will also be larger and easier to press. In addition, a capture button will be introduced, located on the bottom right-hand side of all four models. This dedicated camera button will allow users to focus by half-pressing and capture photos or videos by fully pressing. It will also support swipe gestures for zooming in and out.

Increased Storage

The iPhone 16 Pro models are rumored to come with up to 2TB of storage. This is in addition to the existing 1TB option. While the 1TB option has been leaked in previous years without materializing, there is a higher chance of it happening this year. The introduction of the capture button may encourage users to take even more photos and videos, making the need for larger storage capacities justifiable.

Wi-Fi 7

The iPhone 16 Pro models will support Wi-Fi 7, which offers theoretical speeds of up to 46 Gbps per second. This is almost five times higher than Wi-Fi 6. While the current infrastructure may not support such high speeds, this feature is future-proofing for when Wi-Fi 7-enabled devices become more common. It opens up possibilities for faster wireless connections, similar to 10GB Ethernet speeds.

iPhone 16 New Colors

The iPhone 16 Pro will be available in two new colors: Desert Titanium and Titanium Gray. Desert Titanium is a muted gold color, while Titanium Gray is reminiscent of the back of the iPhone 6. These new color options add a fresh look to the iPhone lineup. In conclusion, the iPhone 16 series is set to bring several exciting changes. From larger displays to upgraded cameras, improved battery life, and enhanced AI capabilities, Apple is making significant improvements to its flagship device. The iPhone 16 is definitely worth considering if you’re in the market for a new smartphone. Stay tuned for more updates on the iPhone 16 series.
